Piano Creatures whole family concert

As part of this year’s Estonian Language Day celebrations, we are delighted to invite you—together with the Estonian Cultural Foundation in the United States—to a whole family concert: “Piano Creatures – The Friends and Adventures of Kirp Kunnar” . The Piano Creatures are whimsical characters who need music to live just as much as they need air! Each of them has their own little quirks, is kind-hearted, and firmly believes that together, great things can be achieved. The music of Piano Creatures is composed by Katri Rebane, the illustrations are by Kerstin Hallik, and the arrangements are by Peeter Rebane. Kartulisalat Contest

Our annual Estonian Food Contest is back - this time it's kartulisalat (Estonian potato salad) Preparers and tasters must register by January 17th with Liisi V. Fletcher (liisi.fletcher@gmail.com /347-683-3632) CONTEST RULES: Kartulisalat must be premade. Prepares should make enough kartulisalat for about 50 people (small cups provided on-site). Preparers pay no fee. Tasters pay a $10 fee per person. Tasters will vote for the best kartulisalat. A prize will be given to the winner

NYE Celebration (Estonian timezone)

Come celebrate early New Years in Estonian timezone. Event starts at 4pm. It will include livestream of Republic of Estonia President's NYE address, complimentary sparkling wine toast and light refreshments. We have suprise performances, games and also a DJ playing Estonia's classic hits. We conclude the event at 9pm so you have plenty of time to make it back home to bring in the local New Year! Meeting with Estonian Foreign Minister

The Embassy of Estonia in Washington, D.C. invites the Estonian community to a meeting with Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna at the New York Estonian House on September 21 at 6:30 PM. Long Island Midsummer Solstice Celebration / Sport's Day

Estonian National Leather Footwear Workshop

A unique opportunity to learn how to make your own traditional leather pastlad (Estonian folk shoes)! The workshop will take place on Tuesday, May 20 from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Instructor: Clothing historian and footwear designer Katrin Koch-Maasing. Cost: $70 Workshop overview: -A brief history of the origins of pastlad -Instruction on the traditional technique of making leather pastlad without rubber soles. You can choose between a rounded or pointed toe style. -All participants will leave with their own handmade leather pastlad, along with the design pattern and the skills needed to make them independently in the future. Kaisa Ling Thing Duo Concert

Provocative, quasi-political and downright braggy, somewhat refined while teetering on the edge of tawdry, Estonia’s best (albeit the only) vaudeville blues band Kaisa Ling Thing casts a passionate message into dynamic musical form. The future grand old lady of Estonian blues Kaisa Ling and pianist Rene Paul have played together since 2018. Kaisa Ling Thing has released two LPs and two blues musicals. They have toured their glitzy and flamboyant, yet self-conscious and emotionally vulnerable vaudeville blues all over Estonia, and are now taking on the world stage with their first English-language fringe show "The Feminist’s Handbook for Eastern Europe".
